📜 Devlog #1 – Who I Am, and Why I'm Making Jobless Samurai: New-Edo

Hello! 👋
I'm Himeh Solanki, an indie game developer originally from India, now living in Japan.
Right now, I'm deep in the grind—learning game development and Japanese language at the same time. (Yes, my brain is melting daily.)
My big dream?
Someday, I want to battle against giants like Rockstar.
Not by copying them, but by creating hilarious, wild, experimental games that nobody else would dare to make.
Games that make people laugh so hard they forget about the real world for a while. Games that aren't about perfection or grinding—just pure, chaotic joy.
I plan to start my own game studio here in Japan.
A place where we make games that feel alive, weird, beautiful, and totally different from what you expect.
I know...
As an Indian chasing dreams in Japan, some people might think I'm an underdog, or maybe even "worthless."
But honestly?
I don't care what they think. I know what I'm building. I’m committed to this. I’m going all in.
🎮 About Jobless Samurai: New-Edo
My first major project is Jobless Samurai: New-Edo.
It’s an experimental open-world sandbox inspired by one of my greatest loves: the Gintama anime series.
In Gintama, nothing is predictable. One moment you're laughing at a stupid joke, the next moment you're somehow crying. That chaotic, emotional, hilarious feeling is exactly what I want players to feel when they step into New-Edo.
A giant open world (8x10km) where seasonal changes happen, urban cities melt into jungles, and weird aliens live in noodle shops.
No forced story. No grind. No "be the hero" pressure.
Just pure freedom, quests ranging from absurd to epic, and a chance to live as the most jobless samurai ever.
You’ll fight for rent money, crash scooters into alien gangs, fall into cursed onsens, and maybe accidentally save the world... but only if you feel like it.
🥢 Why This Matters
The world is stressful enough.
Games shouldn’t always be about achievement, perfection, or addiction.
Sometimes, you just want to start a game, laugh your ass off, do something stupid, and log off with a smile.
That's the world I want to build.
Jobless Samurai: New-Edo isn’t just a project for me —
It’s my declaration: "Fun > Everything Else."
Thanks for reading.
Thanks for believing.
Thanks for laughing with me.
See you soon in New-Edo,
— Himeh Solanki
